Inverted Vertical Lathes with Pick-Up Spindle

CNC Turning Center - VTURN-iV200/250

Following the successful experience on horizontal lathes with work loading system by gantry robot, Victor's new vertical lathe Vturn-iV200 has been designed with a traveling pick-up spindle for implementing loading and machining tasks. Vertical lathe features higher roundness without gravity effect on turning process and inverted chuck further avoids the swarf clearance problems and reduces floor space requirement.

  1. Direct Driven Spindle(DDS) with high torque spindle motor
    • DDS built-in spindle (motor spindle) integrating the spindle motor eliminates vibrations from the belts and improves the spindle run-out to lead a greater surface finish and roundness.
    • The integral unit has lower inertia allows faster acceleration time to improve the overall efficiency.
    • Oil cooling for DDS spindle with cast-in cooling fins on the headstock minimizes the heat build-up in the motor.
    • The headstock in a jacket of constantly chilled oil coolant guarantees long time turning without degrading accuracy.
    • Optional C-axis spindle with 0.001 degree indexing and VDI turret allows for the milling and drilling.
  2. Pick-up spindle with traveling headstock
    • "Pick and place" spindle by the traveling headstock couples turning and part-loading by one machine.
    • Inverted vertical chuck clamping reduces the possibility for the chip scratching on the surface of the components to cover the drawback of conventional vertical lathe.
    • Higher roundness on the turning process without gravity effect than horizontal lathes.
  3. Dynamic motion due to AC drives and linear guideways

    • High rapid feed rate 30/30 m/min for X/Z axes reduces turning cycle time and enhances the machining efficiency.
    • Upgraded Z-axis motor with built-in brake prevents the headstock falling in case of sudden power-off.
    • Pre-tensioned double anchored ball-screws allow heat absorption to minimize thermal deformation.
    • Directly coupled servo motors eliminate motor backlash and noise caused by misalignment.
  4. Kitagawa hydraulic chuck
    • Hydraulic 3 jaw solid chuck is foot operated for safe and easy operation.
    • Chuck confirmation has been included as standard to assure the part clamping for all turning processes.
    • No specisl holding device or grippers are required when integrating with the work feeder.

  5. Servo driven turret for faster indexing
    • Fast tool indexing time 0.2 second using servo driven turret by the servo motor.
    • Hydraulic clamping for heavy hogging assures the cutting rigidity.
    • Optional VDI turret shortens tool changeover time.

  6. Solid construction with thermal stability
    • Symmetric structure design on the machine base reduces thermal strain to minimize the thermal distortion.
    • Deep and highly slant design on the machine base minimizes swarf accumulation and avoids the coolant leakage to the floor.
