Victor's new Vcenter-H500 has been designed in the manner that all Victor machines have been designed in for over 40 years, that of a mixture of the highest of quality standard and rock solid reliability.
Following the success of the Vcenter-H630, the emphasis has continued to be placed in a continuous cutting ability so the Vcenter-H500 has been designed to ensure downtime is kept to a absolute minimum from the casting of the machine structure to the final machine assembly.

In order to keep particles away from the spindle area, an air curtain has been added to constantly give the spindle an extra coat of protection.
The main spindle motor and spindle have been integrated into one unit to eliminate belt and gear drives. This integral unit has lower inertia than traditional drives to improve overall efficiency. Using this integral design allows for much faster acceleration and deceleration times over traditional spindle designs while the elimination of belts and gears reduces vibration sources and aids surface finish and tool life. The dual windings of the integral spindle offer gearbox like torque values at low rpms.
Heavy-duty Meehanite castings from Victor's licensed Meehanite foundry are used in the bed and column for maximum damping and strength. One-piece bed castings with a triangular structure and a heavily ribbed column minimize machine distortion during the heaviest of machining. Ballscrew holders are cast into the machine for even more rigidity and strength. This ensures a constant support for the ballscrews over the entire machine life.
Table height is kept low to reduce the bending moment so that improved positioning accuracy is possible under the heaviest of cutting. A curvic coupling is used for table indexing and offers excellent repeatability.
All axes motors are directly coupled with flexible couplings so that no transmission vibrations are present. For counter balance in the Y-axis a high powered servomotor with built in brake is used. This ensures smoother travels and finer positioning accuracy.
Regardless of the machine we must face the fact that at some stage during a machine's life some fault will render the machine useless, eating into profits while the machine must be repaired. In order to minimize the repair time and make machine service as easy as possible, the Vcenter-H500 has been designed for trouble free maintenance. A large access area at the rear of the machine allows the engineer to walk into the machine with over 70% of the machines hardware within reach to simplify servicing and maintenance.
A symmetrical design and construction means heat generation is limited to minimize the effects of thermal growth on machine accuracies. Double anchored ballscrews are pretensioned during assemble to absorb thermal growth without effecting accuracy. Effective chip evacuation from the machining area improves heat dissipation from the working area while spindle oil cooling prevents excessive spindle growth.

Operator friendly control panel makes manual operation simple which includes remote MPG to ease machine set-up and ergonomic to maximise operator efficiency. Control panel is CE compatabile and is built to withstand the most arduous shop floors! Heat exchanger for control cabinet maintains temperature control to ensure durable operation. High level of PLC integration with numerous safety features ensures smooth and safe operation.
Having worked closely with FANUC for nearly 20 years in developing CNC machine tools our standard 0i-M control package offers optimum reliability with the highest level of machine integration . Load monitoring display for servo and spindle motors allows operator to reach optimum cutting conditions in roughing. For fast precision milling Fanuc 18-MC or 18i-M is available. With the use of AI contouring control which includes 40-block look ahead function and smooth acc/deceleration capabilities, higher cutting federates within minimum machine vibration are possible.
Using ram & arm type ATC means the tool magazine can be located at the sides of the dides of the machine make un/loading of tools easy. lsolated ATC and tool magazine unit prevents chip contamination, with door interlock to prevent access during operation while still allowing easy access to service engineer.
In order to minimize all the non-machining times, the Vcenter-H500 has been designed with a twin arm type ATC that offers fast tool changes of just 3.5 seconds. The ATC unit has been designed for minimum maintenance with the use of hydraulic motors, which ensures stability and longer service life.
In order to aid chip disposal, twin chip augers have been fitted to the symmetrial design of the Vcenter-H500. These augers help remove chips out of the machining area and further dispose them into a front positioned chip conveyor.
Pallets are located with high precision by four ground cone-shaped taper pins and bushings. The four cone positional system ensures accuracy and repeatability throughout the entire machine life. Jets of air are blown throuth the cones during pallet changes, which cleans the busing surface and prevents any chip interference.
Another high-speed feature of the Vcenter-H500, is the rotary style pallet changer. Using a further servo drive, the two pallets can be completely changed in a mere 11 seconds. While some rotary pallet changers are severely limited on table weight, the Vcenter-H500 has been designed to be able to easily hold up to 800 kg parts on each pallet.
The machine is designed to meet the strictest safety standards with fully enclosed guarding to prevent operator access to the machining area during operation and coolant leaks in using high pressured coolant. All electrical components meet CE mark requirements while optional door interlocks and magazine guarding bring the machine up to full CE standard.

The Vcenter-H500 uses oversized NRS style linear guide ways in all three-transmission axes. These high-end guide ways ensure that each axis can absorb the most extreme of cutting forces endured during heavy cutting while still being able to maintain such fine positioning accuracies. The NRS style of linear guide expresses far superior rigidity and damping properties compared to other traditional guideways and the high dynamic stiffness ensures longer tool life and improved surface finish. Because of the low friction properties of the NRS guideways, the Vcenter-H500 displays very high rapid federates in order to minimize spindle approach and retraction times.
The Vcenter-H500 has been designed for fast and efficient chip removal . The symmetrical machine design, strong coolant flow and the steep angular splashguards inside the machining area all allow the Vcenter-H500 to easily self-dispose of chips and prevent any significant chip buildup.
